In order to make it work you need to change WHERE P_BatchID <= @BatchID to WHERE P_BatchID < @BatchID to get rid of all batches before current batch.

Hi,

I've just installed the monitoring app and the management data warehouse like it was described on yout paper.

But if i look into the trace table, there are no data for the performance traces. Everything else works fine. Including the SSIS tasks.

Could you please tell me why the app still doesn't work?

So - it plugged into the MDW, added a custom collector under Data Collection node..

Is there some sample i can use for a report(s), maybe add it to the MDW Reports node?

I think that is what project SSAS Monitoring Scripts For Management Data Warehouse does? Adds the SSAS monitoring to the MDW which is what your link referenced..

Hi,

Which seems to do what the MonitoringSSAS app does, but it is integrated into SSMS.

Anyone know if the MonitoringSSAS app can be replaced bu SQL Performance studio without losing anything?

If not, can anyone point me to a good ETL performnce monitoring package here on Codeplex?

Hi Imran,

I apologize for not replying earlier. I just noticed this message and will better monitor this discussion.

The C# application was written for SSAS 2005 and thus references the 2005 version of Microsoft.AnalysisServices.dll (AMO). The 2008 version of AMO was just released at this link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=228DE03F-3B5A-428A-923F-58A033D316E1&displaylang=en

Scroll down to "Microsoft Analysis Management Objects" and install. The 2008 version of AMO will install to ...\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\SDK\Assemblies. In the C# solution, remove the reference to the 2005 version of this DLL and replace it with the 2008 version. BTW, this should open both 2005 and 2008 cubes.

You could make this work with single or double quote strings by putting the following like at the top of your script.

$System = '$SYSTEM'

This is because variables are expanded inside double quote strings and the $system is treated as a variable and evaluates to an empty string. So if we create a variable called $System and give it a value of '$SYSTEM' it will work both ways. (which would be nice for people that are not used to PowerShell)

I compile the code in VS 2008 for Analysis Services 2008. After running F5 and trying to connect to the database, I am gettting error Cannot connect to Analysis Services version 10.0.1600.22

Is the trace file Methodology for Monitoring Analysis Services (V2) meant to be run 24x7, or does the trace have too much of a negative impact on the performance of Analysis Services?

Yes, if you execute the powershell script from within the c:\scripts folder. However, if you execute the powershell script from another location using an absolute path to refer to the script you wish to execute, the relative pathing will fail - unless you use the Set-Location command in the script. For example, Set-Location C:\Scripts - add this to the beginning of the CancelAllQueries.ps1 script - you can then use relative pathing.

Use single quote rather than double-quote as indicated in the example in the file. I will update project soon.

In new PowerShell Script sample query CancelAllQueries has script path hardcoded to c:\scripts:
c:\scripts\Invoke-DMV.ps1
c:\scripts\invoke-cancelsession.ps1

I believe this should be replaced with:
.\Invoke-DMV.ps1
.\invoke-cancelsession.ps1

Hi, I had no problems executing powershell script to get local version, but when executing DMV query script, I am getting following error:
